Our Mission:
Our goal is to maintain a high level of care for the horse and rider. We place strong emphasis on the relationships we develop with our animals. Respect, consistent handling, and understanding the equine mind are the standards with our staff. In addition, while reaching for these goals we try to work within the boundaries of environmentally responsible practices.

The Mlsna Family

Andy and Angele Mlsna are life-long residents of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. They purchased the farm in January 2006. Angele grew up with horses and has been enjoying the opportunity to fulfill her childhood dream of owning a stable. Andy is an avid outdoorsmen and jumped at the chance to own a small farm
for raising his family.

Please contact Angele if you'd like to come visit the stable: 608 437-4840 or

Our barn family

Wendy & Lucky:

In 2007 Wendy joined SFS with her new show horse Lucky. After many years out of the horse world she decided to jump in head first. Wendy searched long and hard for the Quarter Horse that was so smooth she could ride him "drinking a can of Mt. Dew and talking on the cell phone at the same time." Lucky was exactly that horse!

Over their years together these two have logged in many hundreds of miles, 100 or so horse shows and many many ribbons and trophies. Wendy and Lucky are an active team and can be seen out here most evenings. They've been at SFS since the beginning (scary fence lines and all!) and will always have a home here.

Megan & Bailey:

Irish Cream, a.k.a. Bailey, is 16 year old thoroughbred. Megan first met Bailey in 2002. Back then, Bailey was about 200 lbs underweight, dirty, had feet so long they curled up on the ends and had dreadlocks down to his shoulder. After a few months of some serious TLC Bailey started his new life as a show horse! Megan & Bailey spent the next several years training & showing in the hunter/jumper circuit. After hundreds of show miles put on across WI & IL Bailey retired due to an unfortunate health problem.

Megan and Bailey joined SFS shortly after retirement where they are enjoying his Golden Years. Megan keeps busy with her career and new husband. When she comes out to ride she'll pull out the jumps and remind us of how much fun she and Bailey had in the ring together.

Cassie, Alex & Apollo:

Sisters Cassie and Alex purchased their Percheron/Arab/Morgan cross in 2007 and they have been with SFS since 2010. When he was a yearling, Apollo looked much like a mule. He had the same greyish color and huge ears but Cassie still had to have him. The girls were raised with horses but when their mom passed away all the horses went as well. Apollo was their step back into the horse world.

Alex plans to do some 4-H with him and Cassie is simply planning on going where ever the wind blows. Apollo is our barn "jester" and has a playful sense of humor. Being 17hh he often is seen walking freely in and out of our round bale feeders to catch the tasty stuff in the middle that the other boys can't reach. Size is no barrier to friendships for Apollo as he is very fond of children, cats and dogs. We have enjoyed the wonderful addition Cassie, Alex and Apollo have made to our SFS community.

Anke & Guinness:

Guinness is a 2007 Morgan whom Anke met while searching for a mount to replace her retired best buddy, Murphy. Anke knew he as the right one for her when a few too many "signs" occured that could not be ignored.

Anke's retired horse's full name was “Changing Murphy’s Law” and Guinness’ sires name was “Murphy’s Law”. Guinness grew up in Baraboo WI in an area that is very spiritually significant for Anke, and was even kept on the same street as her mentor. Upon their first meeting Guinness was at the farthest end of a remote pasture and came running to greet Anke when she called. Finally, Anke had her trusted trainer give Guinness the “once over” in regards to temperament and horseinality, and he passed with flying colors. It was a partnership that was meant to be.

You’ll find Anke horsing around most days of the week since both Guinness and Anke love to play. “If it’s fun let’s do it!” is their motto. Their main goals are to log many miles on the trails and possibly do a little competition in the dressage or jumping arenas.
